well... 7 years ago i bought my house for $30,000 (rural appalachia thats why its cheap) and have performend no maintenance on it for 7 years and its now in 3x worse condition than when i bought it but every year the county raises the tax assessment and when i bought it it was assessed at $30K now they say its at $120K so they are charging me huge taxes now on a collapsing doublewide trailer and i think thats really fucked up and i think thats part of a nationwide scam to, for example, raise the tax assessment of old retired people's houses so they eventually lose their houses because their $1000/month social security which was a lot when they retired 30 years ago is no longer enough to pay for cost and so they government gets to steal their house.

- What is your all-in monthly cost (mortgage, insurance, property tax) as a percentage of your income?
- What condition is it in?
- Are you reasonably close to your job and basic necessities like groceries and emergency medical care?
- Are there any niggers nearby?

over 50%, like 65%. sure it's steep but I knew what I was getting into and I don't live an expensive lifestyle. Plus I had the seller cover my closing costs so I kept some of my savings for an emergency. I plan on renting out a bedroom or two to help with the mortgage payment, but it's not necessary for me to afford the house.

It's in good condition, the previous owner took good care of it. Roof is pretty new and has plenty of life left, AC unit is pretty new. Nothing critical stood out in the inspection and I had all the plumbing scoped. There's an extremely tall tree in the front yard I'm going to have removed soon. Hoping to have it processed into lumber I can use to build shit.

I'm 15-20 minutes away from work, a huge improvement from my 45-minute commute before. The hospital is now 5 minutes away vs 30 minutes away. Grocery store 5 minutes, gym 3 minutes, bars/downtown 5 minutes. I got really lucky on the location.

And yes, unfortunately. One's a fucking neighbor, and naturally their yard is a mess. I'm not sure if he's a tenant or owns the house. In any case I hope eventually they leave.

I bought a house 2 years ago and thought any God damn minute the fucking prices are going to collapse and I'll be sitting here in a shitty house I hate that's impossible to sell, but 2 years later and nothing has happened. Although, I will tell you to toss a few hundred extra in the escrow account everyone in awhile and always pay 1/12th extra on the principal.
