While this is largely true, it would be more accurate to say southern whites and blacks musicians influenced each other greatly. Chuck Berry for example, the first rocker pictured in OP, his first hit was Maybelline, which according to him was inspired by Bob Wills' Ida Red, which Berry used to sing at mixed-race dances. Hank Williams was before rock but doesn't get enough credit as a pioneer of rock music. Move It On Over for example was basically an early rock song before Berry or Rocket 88 (considered by most the first rock song), but then Hank Williams was taught guitar by a black man. But then the blues scale is so similar to a common Irish scale, with both being poor Southerners, that many historians belief the blues scale is a simplified form of it. So back and forth you see white and black people influencing each other and I think that's a more accurate way of looking at how rock music ultimately arrived, and most American music in general.

Before Elvis Presley there was either R&B for blacks or there was rockabilly for whites. Rock music really came into its own when people like Elvis and Clapton (i.e. White musicians) melded blues trappings with actual music composition, and even then musicians who actually studied music theory wrote heavy metal.

As for Presley, IDC, he wasn't a big song writer he was a singer and performer, and say what you want about who created what he could out-sing anyone and his singing style influenced more artists than any singer before or after. Nobody denies blacks are great at playing instruments with a beat. Billy Preston was the best musician on the Beatles final album Let it Be. That being said, Rock is white music. None of these black musicians played Rock for other blacks, because blacks dont listen to Rock because its not for them. Blacks were into Jazz, Gospel, and RnB when Chuck Berry and Fats Domino were playing almost exclusively to whites. Rock has always been white music, which is why whites ran with it all the way through the 90s while black people had mostly ditched the genre by the time 70s Soul came around. Considering this, its logical to conclude that rock "comes from" whites, which makes sense because it directly builds from Hillbilly Music.

Both of these genres are a fusion of white American folk music and black American slave music. Neither "come" from black people, although one could argue that country builds more off folk which makes it more white and blues builds off slave music which makes it more black.
