Imagine a world where everyone only produces what they can and consume what they need and not more nor less. At some point someone will want to have a better roof at a better place than the one next door so they will hire someone who builds that roof for them.
In order to prevent that, people need to be controlled by a central authority. If you remove money from these people, you get to a point where they would use anything else for payment backhandedly. So you need to force the people under a state controlled production in a planned economy.
Communists say this would work without dictatorships as soon as mankind involves into a "better being" that doesn't need that central controlled directive power. To achieve that, communists implement socialist dictatorships ("dictatorship of the proletariat", which however always turns out into a normal dictatorship with a central figure leading a central "workers"party) to transition to a communist society.
However all attempts at creating the "better being" society have always failed hard at human reality.
