A "sharp" haircut has to be repeated every 4-6 weeks and an expensive one is clearly apparent over the the cheap option. Therefore maintaining a good haircut is just a signal that you care about how you are perceived and have some money. You basically can maintain a routine and have a job.
That's why I have only have my hair trimmed twice in the last 18 months.
