They're about to enter the "find out" stage once the OBBB passes and most rural hospitals close alongside it. Enjoy driving three hours just to get to the nearest ER lol

Where do you think the money for infrastructure projects, farming subsidies, and education come from? Cletus's Bait and Tackle Shop? Your buddies asparagus patch in his back yard?

This just seems retarded. Yeah the “cities” might send or fund things based on their imaginary fiat currency that they print endless amounts of and isn’t backed by anything, but they produce nothing of value. Their existence is contingent on the countryside feeding them. what do cities in america even make anymore? nearly all cities in western europe and north america have been mostly deindustrialised and turned to invisible financial bullshit

I forgot how computers, cars, financial institutions, international trade, globally consumed entertainment, research institutions, and financial institutions are located in solely in a one horse town in Indiana. Silly me.
You're right. We keep you alive to feed us while we produce gdp's that rival some European nations. This allows us to continue to sustain you so you don't fall back into the middle ages.

Honestly everything is collapsing anyway and everyone thinks they're right, why not just get weird with it in these next few years and try out no more subsidies? Certain areas will immediately contract and feel pain, and they can decide if they want to admit they need help and all the consequences that comes from that or languish. Maybe rural America collapses, maybe it thrives, doesn't really matter to me.
