over 10 years. current FY2024 deficit is $1.6T per year. that means the BBB is reducing deficits 80%.

That's the impact, not the total
That amount is added to what is already happened

They should have done an act that drastically increased inflation, but called it the inflation reduction act.

lies. you're pretending the tax cuts would have expired and the new deficit will be $2T per year (it wont be).

That 4 trillion is on top of the current deficit spending

You can see the individual cuts in the OP image if you think it's cutting the deficit 80% (lol)

no it's not. the CBO estimate is an assumption 'under existing law'. the new budget replaces the old budget law. the new budget extends existing tax cuts (not existing law). the new FY2025 deficit will be lower than the FY2024 deficit ($1.6T). you're comparing apples and oranges.

>you're pretending the tax cuts would have expired
They would have without this law!

Pretending things that were originally set to expire won't cost money if you extend them lets you pretend nothing the federal government does costs money. Do you think it's fair to be able to set a budget item to expire in 1 day and then extend the budget item permanently on day 2?

the tax cuts never were going to expire. you're double counting the cuts (first because they're included in FY24 deficits, and second because they're 'a change from existing law'; except the impact on the deficit is zero since the spending/revenue does not change). stop cheating.
