Do the civilians flee or do they stay? I'm curious how many former Ukrainians now live in Russian conquered territory
>>509247919 (OP)There's a reason there are so many pro-ukranian posts here from european flags...
It's complicated. Ask more concrete question if you want an answer
Town of Toretsk. It's even lower now.
>The city became practically entirely depopulated as result of the Russian bombardment and months-long assault on the city. Amid heavy fighting, the city population decreased to about 1,150 according to a statement by the Ukrainian military administration on 11 October, 2024,[31]
>down from the estimated 1,600 by 13 September following an organised evacuation of at least 8,000.[37]
>The estimated number of residents further decreased to 126 by January 2025,[38]
>to 48 by March,[39]
>and to around 40 by April.

>>509247919 (OP)Zelenskyy admitted to keeping civilian population in contested towns on purpose so Russians have a hard time capturing them
>>509249253Refugees sure, but what about the population in the conquered areas?

>>509249922Most refugees _are_ from liberated territories, it's not like they can just cross the border. Those who try to enter from EU have to pass security check in the airport, showing that their social media and messenger history has no anti-Russian posts, and most fail it.
>>509249055Toretsk is still a frontline city though, of course there's nobody there right now.
>>509247919 (OP)Crimea has 2 million people.
Luhansk and Donetsk have about 1 million each.
The populaiton living there are combination of Ethnic Russians, Russified Ukrainians, or Ukrainians who identify as Russians to avoid any discrimination.
