I wish to memorize and recite more prayers. The only one I've got is the Lords Prayer and I spin it a lot. Absolutely political.

I was a lifelong atheist raised by leftists. I felt the call to become Catholic after I suddenly started to believe in God while I healed of severe mental illness and diabetes (cold turkey psych med withdrawl caused beetus) through whole foods. I got married in the church after 18 months to become fully Catholic I got all my sacraments including marriage in the same week.

I personally found the Bible challenging cover to cover even trying the apps where you can do Bible in a year. I was told at my church to start with the gospels. I also picked up a children's Bible as I was a true beginner and thought it may help to understand things quickly so it would be easier to digest the Bible but didn't end up needing it.

Going to the church and engaging in discussion and things like "alpha" and other newcomer type stuff helped. I enjoy my church there are separate men's and women's events and retreats and a monthly meet up for men to have a beer and discussion as well as knights of the Columbus which I haven't joined but am interested in.

Feels good to be part of something and bring my family to the religion of my ancestors.

Was really worth it. I went to the church politically enraged but stuff doesn't bother me as much anymore because of eternal life, bigger picture, God's judgment etc.. Surrendering ego/pride was the hardest part.

The Jesus Prayer
"Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner."
Ideally, you will make this prayer throughout the day. Pray the first part in your heart as you breathe in, and the second part as you breathe out.
And while they aren't actually prayers, it would be good to memorize and repeat the Nicene Creed and Apostle's Creed as statements of faith and reminders of what you actually believe.

You anons should also check out the ESV and NKJV translations. They are more word-for-word translations than the NIV, but still very readible. You can compare the different translations side by side on Bible Gateway.
Also highly recommend getting a good study Bible to help you better understand what you are reading. Crossway puts out a ESV study Bible that is excellent. Every single verse explained in detail, cross references, illustrations, maps, timelines, tons of supplementary articles on various subjects, Bible reading plans, all kinds of stuff, it's great.

Obviously the western world is fundamentally Christian for the last 2000 years and everything in modern politics is centered around that zionist fake state called "Israel" and the false identity of that fake multi-racial people called "jews".
Their zionist identity claim is the very reason for your delision that you portray here yet again.

Yes, knowing God's Word and His people is important.

I wish I could be faithful, it would make life easier.

My non religious father once dreamed of a floating in a black void while a spinning burning christian cross closed in on him. Why can't it happen to me ? Even though I was raised catholic I can't help but look with bewilderement at religous people. I am even a bit condescending. Truth is I am a bit jealous of their steadfast beliefs.

Thank you for reading my blogpost.

I do understand completely. I was raised in a non-religious 'OH MY SCIENCE' type of family. I only fairly recently began to feel a pull towards Christ (I did as a child too but it waned eventually). It's early days but it is a great comfort and strength to have meaning and purpose in a very hedonistic and shallow world. I am praying and learning what I can from Christians I know, but it's still a conscious effort, as most in my life aren't religious still. I have come to found a belief can be nurtured like a plant, through communication with God and trust, almost like one of those trust falls you see at corporate gatherings. But it's worth it.
I belief dreams can tell us a lot and our minds are creating things to tell us something meaningful. I'd love to know what that dream meant.

Me too, my father has remained non religious and anticlerical so it changed nothing. In previous times maybe he would have been a mystic.

Sometimes I think that the peace community and certainty brought by religion would be worth gaslighting myself into believeing. Worth more than what I can't help but think is the truth.

Oh, and one thing OP. There are many different versions of the Our Father. This is the Catholic one used in English-speaking countries:

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Youโ€™ll notice that the language is a bit old fashioned, but with that comes the harmony of many generations saying the same prayer and it is - in my opinion -in a way more holy (although not more salvific) in the sense that holy means set apart from others; it is not day to day language. Others will replace โ€˜thyโ€™ with โ€˜yourโ€™, others might say โ€œgive us today our daily breadโ€, and other might even say โ€œsave us from the time of trialโ€ instead of โ€œlead us not into temptationโ€.

Apostle's Creed:
I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting. Amen.

Act of Contrition:
O my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended Thee,
and I detest all my sins
because of Thy just punishments,
but most of all because
they offend Thee, my God,
who art all good and deserving
of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace,
to sin no more and to avoid
the near occasions of sin. Amen.
