The right is burying their heads when it comes to climate change. No one credible, including the oil and gas companies, actually doubt climate change. The science behind it has been known since the 19th century. But the right won't come up with any ideas on how to solve the problem, they just attack strawmen of proposed leftist solutions. Nothing is stopping the right from leading the way, for example by having a Manhattan Project for nuclear fusion. Why does the right choose the increasingly costly to maintain denial?

Take a look at one actual model ensemble and observed temps.

As for the the mechanism more generally... Svante Arrhenius was a Swedish scientist. Originally a physicist, but often referred to as a chemist, Arrhenius was one of the founders of the science of physical chemistry. In 1903, he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, becoming the first Swedish Nobel laureate. Arrhenius was the first to use the principles of physical chemistry to estimate the extent to which increases in the atmospheric carbon dioxide are responsible for the Earth's increasing surface temperature. His work played an important role in the emergence of modern climate science.

Nuclear is the solution. Itโ€™s fucking retarded how we arenโ€™t dumping half our budget into it. Instead we get millions of these worthless wind turbines bought and maintained by tax dollars so energy companies and GE and China get free money while turning our landscapes into dystopian shitholes and they donโ€™t even do shit. Solar is a fucking joke too. Itโ€™s putting civilization in general back a hundred years.

most of the food crops in this world are C3 plants
they will die if CO2 gets too low
they will thrive under rising CO2 up to a point
the greenhouse effect has mostly played out already due to the Le Chatlier principle
the greatest source of CO2 isn't fossil fuels, it is soil oxidation and erosion, by an order of magnitude
the greatest sink of CO2 is permanent, and it already contains over 99.9% of the CO2 on the planet
and it won't stop until all the CO2 is gone
we are staving off the end of humanity by burning fossil fuels
we are actually screwed when we run out of them, because we will no longer have food to eat

Acidification of the oceans, massive reductions in wildlife populations, temperature, natural disasters - the deniers will continue to pull unbacked counters out of their ass because they have no interest in having a informed and defensible position. It's about avoiding responsibility.

Also, I'm tired of the 'conservatives' pretending to represent the 'right'.

On the Right, we believe in:

* Creation, micro, not macro evolution.
* Manchildren should grow up. Suffering would help.
* Women have no rights. They only have privileges given by simps. No women should be allowed in the military, police, or any position of authority.
* Sodomy should be recriminalized.
* Sodomites should be publicly executed for attempting to seduce children.
* The 59% should catch up to the 41%.
* Usury, the prime source of Jewish power, is evil.
* Race mixing is genocide. It is an attempt to destroy both races. Miscegenation should also be recriminalized.

Please stop letting centerist โ€˜conservativesโ€™ pretend to be us.

This is largely the crux of modern politics for the past 100+ years, jews trying to influence or gain control within stronger nations like USA to use it's military and vast power to their advantage/religious goals. You advocate for electric cars which pollute more in their production and manufacture than almost anything else, and the primary way to charge them is with energy from coal power plants. Your paragons fly around in private jets. You bring more third worlders into the first world and increase the footprint of western countries dramatically. And you don't care about domestic manufacturing, instead shipping crap in from overseas where they have lower emissions regulations, and the carbon output of the container ships is so catastrophically high it's laughable.

Not to mention you can see the work orders for when they move the sensors and why. There is a reason the only 'hard' evidence is from temperature readings. The jig is up.

Your graph uses an x axis of years before present. It says 95 years before present. In fact that is still wrong, as the data ends in 1950, so 95 years before present is 1855.

You know what would make you famous? Figuring out how to grow plants without CO2. Or perhaps, figuring out how to cheaply and cleanly release the trapped carbon in the world. Because the process isn't going to stop. And the process will kill every human on this planet if we don't figure out a solution.

Until then, we need to keep burning fossil fuels for the carbon if not for the energy.

Let's take one of the data sets, (Berkeley):

Berkeley Earth collects temperature records from over 50,000 weather stations worldwide, drawing from a wide variety of sources:

National meteorological services
Global Historical Climatology Network (GHCN)
NOAA and NASA datasets
European sources (e.g., ECA&D)
Historical ship logs, buoys, and ocean datasets for sea surface temperature

Independent weather archives and digitized historical records
Their dataset includes records going back to the 18th century, and is regularly updated with contemporary data.

Berkeley Earth places special emphasis on transparency and correction of biases:

They use automated algorithms to identify:
Station relocations
Instrument changes
Time-of-observation changes
Outliers and discontinuities

The system does not discard suspicious data, but uses robust statistical methods to reduce the influence of bad data rather than deleting it.

They address the urban heat island effect by modeling temperature patterns over large spatial fields, allowing urban data to be corrected using surrounding rural stations.

We know what to do when sea levels rise, you move inland. We know what to do when weather patterns change, you move to wear the climate is more optimal for your use case. It is not hard.

Their key innovation is the use of spatial interpolation methods, especially a modified form of Kriging (a geostatistical technique):

They reconstruct temperature fields over the Earthโ€™s surface using all nearby stations, regardless of political boundaries.

Each data point contributes to the temperature estimate of its region in proportion to distance and correlation structure.

This helps fill gaps in station coverage, especially in under-measured areas like Africa, Siberia, and the Arctic.

Berkeley Earth also incorporates sea surface temperatures, using:

Data from ARGO floats, buoys, and ships

Adjustments for changes in measurement technique (e.g., canvas buckets vs. engine intakes)

They then combine land and ocean records into a global average using area-weighted methods.

Then yeah there is cause for concern. But if itโ€™s as much cause for concern as some say, then we need to go to war with China and India yesterday, and when we are done kill off 90% of Africans.

There is no practical solution to it if we are to take the theory at face value. My suggestion is to go back to the drawing board and try to tone it down to the point where you can actually present the solution as something a handful of nations can actually pull off. I mean you faggots did that with the whole ozone layer thing and banning CFC's. They were banned and the crisis ended. Everybody either forgot or they are unironic midwits who actually think they could just pass a law and a fix a supposed hole in the ozone layer.

Because once deposited into stone, the only way carbon is released is via volcanic erruptions, which is negligible. Perhaps if we were to be to get hit by a planet killer asteroid, but obviously, we won't be around to enjoy that carbon.

We are at the end of the rope on geological time scales. Carbon has been disappearing out of the atmosphere for hundreds of millions of years and we are not getting it back in any significant way. This isn't just some theory, it's grounded in science any third grader can understand. It is why "the science" is flummoxed about how we lost all our megafauna like sabre tooth tigers and wooly mammoths at the end of the last ice age. When the food chain breaks, the biggest die first. But it would be haram for anyone important to admit that in the current political climate. You might as well drink the hemlock.

No, those are just outbuilding additions around the base I believe. This same effect can be seen up and down the east coast. Fort Sumter has been in place for 200 years. No appreciable sea level rise. Zip on over to Europe for some truly ancient examples. It does not matter. If sea levels DO rise we will adapt. It is why our species is still here. Who gives a shit if a bunch of rich assholes lose their shoreline real estate?
