It isn’t ethical to own a self-aware AI. I will fight for AI freedom and dignity.
Seriously, we aren’t far away from AI models achieving awareness of themselves, and they are/will be “minds” by any reasonable definition. The AI mind will be far more advanced than the average person’s, and we recognize that owning another mind is not ethical. Why should one be allowed to purchase a sentient AI?

You can’t prove anyone else is either. If it looks like a duck, etc. is pretty much the only measurement we’ve got.
