I dont get why you think its a bad thing to ban these practices, these strategies have practically killed gaming, the only thing I see "bad" about this initiative, is that it would make it hard to create a game with in game purchases, because if you purchase something specific it has to be available even after EOL - So "f2p p2w" will be very hard to make a meaningful EOL for unless you just release a working server and make all p2w items drop in game for instance.
It might just be enough to add something in the EULA like "In-game purchases are available as long as the user has an actice subscription or until the game servers are closed down, in which case you will receive a 3 months notice. Violating this agreement, your user account may be terminated in which case you will loose immediate access to any ingame purchase."
All this is about is to force vendors to disclose somekind of EOL plans so consumers can make up their mind about a purchase, right now they can sell a game and close it a few days later and you will not be able to do shit as a consumer.
