Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered a pause in sending a shipment of missiles and ammunition to Ukraine amid concern about the U.S. military’s stockpiles, according to two defense officials, two congressional officials and two sources with knowledge of the decision.

Hegseth ordered the delay weeks after he issued a memo ordering a review of the U.S. stockpile of munitions, which has been depleted after years of the United States’ sending weapons to Ukraine to defend against the Russia invasion, as well as nearly two years of military operations in the Middle East as the United States fought Houthi rebels in Yemen and defended Israel and allies against Iran, four of the officials said.

The weapons being delayed include dozens of Patriot interceptors that can defend against incoming Russian missiles, thousands of 155 mm high explosive Howitzer munitions, more than 100 Hellfire missiles, more than 250 precision-guided missile systems known as GMLRS and dozens each of Stinger surface-to-air missiles, AIM air-to-air missiles and grenade launchers, the two defense officials, two congressional officials and two sources with knowledge of the decision said.

White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly said: “This decision was made to put America’s interests first following a DOD review of our nation’s military support and assistance to other countries across the globe. The strength of the United States Armed Forces remains unquestioned — just ask Iran." The Defense Department did not respond to a request for comment.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has said he “totally understands” the US prioritizing its own national interests, but stressed that European allies cannot continue backing Ukraine in its conflict with Russia without support from Washington.

Rutte made the remarks in a Wednesday interview with Fox News, responding to reports that Washington has scaled back critical military aid to Kiev, including deliveries of air defense ammunition, missiles, and artillery shells.

“I totally understand that the US always has to make sure that their own interests are covered,” the NATO chief said, but argued that “flexibility” was needed.

“In the short term, Ukraine cannot do without all the support it can get when it comes to ammunition and to air defense systems,” Rutte stated.

Why is though? United Kingdom and the rest of the EU should be the ones providing them with all the support they need. Why are we the ones that need to run our stockpiles low?

What I don't understand, why they are announcing this to the whole planet? If they have ammunition shortage they should keep it a secret. Is this a trick from Trump to force a peace between Ukraine and Russia?

>im surprised we can make any military equipment at all
Japan makes patriot missiles
South Korea makes 155mm shells
this is in addition to whatever US makes
and since the hot conflict began, these two countries were sending theirs to US while US was sending older stockpiles to Ukraine
so these not even NATO countries were giving arms to Ukraine right from the start this way indirectly

I guess someone finally noticed that we shot off two years worth of THAAD production during the “12 day war”, along with probably a years worth of Tomahawks.

>Why are we the ones that need to run our stockpiles low?
it's a proxy war of the collective West against Russia
of which UK and US are at the front
so you are in this together

you see, UK are masters of sabotage, terror and false flag operations
Zelensky specifically is their bitch and project (his family and future asylum is in UK)
but they do not have the stockpiles, satellites, intel, and muscles to help Ukraine the same way
same as Europe
what they can offer is money
but even money cannot instantly speed up production of certain types of equipment

then the problem is that Ukrainians are running out, they are losing
and there will be a point where either US/West will need to go to war with a nuclear superpower or let Ukrainian regime fall
so it might that the collective Trump knows this, doesn't want to go to war with Russia over Berlin, let alone some Eastern European shitholes, and wants to make some deal with Russia

There's almost no industry left in Europe, what little they had is being strangled by their own sanctions on cheap russian energy.
They acn't build shit to send to Ukraine anymore, they can't even begin to build factories in the Eu because of the insane amount of red tape their laws created. Which is why they planned to start financing factories in Ukraine to start building weapons there, Russia responded to this by sending crusie missiles into any building suitable for military industry installations.

Anon, this has been common knowledge since the 80s. There was never more than a 30 day supply of high tech weapons in the event that a high intensity conflict broke out. They’re too expensive and take too long to produce. Dunnigan had a whole chapter on it in his book How to Male War (both the 1982 edition and the heavily revised one that came out in the 90s).

Not every war between two nations is a "proxy war". Proxies are usually fought through paramilitaries or regional factions like in Syria. Both Russia and China lost that proxy war.

What is happening in Ukraine is the direct consequence of the Western world finding out after fucking around, but that doesn't mean it's a proxy due to the fact Russia is fighting it directly.

REEs are crucial for a range of defense technologies, including F-35 fighter jets, Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines, Tomahawk missiles, radar systems, Predator unmanned aerial vehicles, and the Joint Direct Attack Munition series of smart bombs. For example, the F-35 fighter jet contains over 900 pounds of REEs. An Arleigh Burke-class DDG-51 destroyer requires approximately 5,200 pounds, while a Virginia-class submarine uses around 9,200 pounds.

The United States is already on the back foot when it comes to manufacturing these defense technologies. China is rapidly expanding its munitions production and acquiring advanced weapons systems and equipment at a pace five to six times faster than the United States. While China is preparing with a wartime mindset, the United States continues to operate under peacetime conditions. Even before the latest restrictions, the U.S. defense industrial base struggled with limited capacity and lacked the ability to scale up production to meet defense technology demands. Further bans on critical minerals inputs will only widen the gap, enabling China to strengthen its military capabilities more quickly than the United States.

Weirdly, Korea makes a lot of shit your military uses, and they wre supposed to build the new Icebreaker for you navy, since the US can't build icebreakers anymore and Russia is building a fucking fleet of nuclear icebreakers right now, they have 3 ready with 5 more on the way. But recently Trump said Norway is going to build the american icebreaker, no idea what made him change his mind on that.
Also the american Icebreaker won't be nuclear, probably something to do with them being built in another country.
This model is of the as of yet nameless super nuclear icebreaker Russia is building, 232 meters nose to ass, they said the twin nuclear reactors are ready and they got started on making the Hull.

>Not every war between two nations is a "proxy war"
the destruction of Nord Streams proves that it is a proxy war, not just some local conflict (in fact it is an act of war against Russia by US / Collective West, but whatever)
the main difference between the Cold War proxy wars and this one is that:
1. Russian cities and nuclear triad are being attacked.
2. For Russia, this proxy war is existential and inevitable, while for US and Collective West it is not.
