That need for a system to explain reality, and the moral framework that a person derives therefrom, is what religion is. A person can reject any particular view of the divine, but that person will still have a religion.
Why, then, does this desire for a system of truth exist within all people? Because there is a God out there who is that truth, and He calls all people to Him, whether they recognize it or not.
