there are decentralized exchanges you can buy monero with bitcoin like bisq, although it's not a terrible thing to buy from a KYC exchange and move to another wallet. After you're in monero from another wallet your transactions are untraceable essentially regardless and can always say you lost it.

That is because crypto became the de facto techbro scam, grifters favorite get rich quick scheme, and bankers new favorite means of hiding inflation. Realistically, there are only 3 kinds of crypto that have value. 1 Privacy coins(aka Monero) valued because the black market backs it with goods and services. 2 Data crypto due to its value in securing/transferring of data like protecting whistleblowers. 3 Contract Cryptos aka what 'blockchain' is supposed to be for authorizing and backing contracts and other agreements.

Everything else is a scamcoin.
