EV rely on the government not shutting down the electricity grid and also not draining your cars battery (they are known to do this in America)
EV cars are easier to control the population with, you can't reliable store electricity like you can fuel.
So if the government pulls another covid stay in your house bs they can force people to by preventing the cars from having charges.
Or people trying to leave the state because they no longer like its laws will be stuck.

>6 years

Thats being pretty generous. And its not like one day your battery holds a charge and the next it doesnt.
A half dead battery means your car goes half as many miles before needing plugged in again.

Its also a matter of being so far up your own ass that you think you're helping the environment by offloading the pollution onto the raw energy production and lithium pollution from all the gucking batteries that will be in demand. Its also crazy how much the hazards of battery disposal are downplayed, and what effevt multiplying that by a factor of X will be when more people slop it up with EVs.

You are so fucking retarded it's not even funny. All the faggots are shilling "green, renewable energy" and moving away from nuclear energy. Then they all start shilling EVs, despite the fact that the electric infrastructure is severely lacking the potential to convert every single car to EV, without having the entire country electric network implode. And to top it all off they also want to close the nuclear reactors, so even if the infrastructure was sufficient, the produced energy still wouldn't be enough. And the best part is that the biggest limiting factor is the Li and the Co, which are not only rare, but also hard to mine and basically impossible to be recycled (without huge energy losses and inefficiencies).
In short - stop being a faggot, get your hands off my ICE car and don't you even dare touch the nuclear reactors. I don't want your Jewish products. Fuck off.

Because governments are using tax payer money to incentivize and subsidize the purchase of EVs. I've seen so many programs "Give up your ICE car and get up to 25% on your first EV purchase", also, they are creating these "green zones" in our cities where only EVs are allowed and if you come there in an ICE car, you will need to pay.
People who buy gas for their ICE cars pay a tax that is used to repair the roads but which cars damage the road more? A 1.3-ton gas car or a 2-ton EV? EVs are almost always heavier than gas cars because a gas car carries maybe 60 liters of fuel in its gas tank but an EV might have a 500 kilo battery... And still somehow less range than a gas car.
They are a humiliation ritual and the government knows this. If all the rules were equal for ICE cars and EVs, there would be much fewer EVs on the road.

>A half dead battery means your car goes half as many miles before needing plugged in again.
All the EV guys avoid this part. Looking at Rimac when they did their top speed run, within 40 seconds it produced 2/3rds of its max power due to draining the battery at that speed, meaning that at 60% or so it can't make max power. So there seems to be a small operating window for the EV to be capable of delivering max power on demand, whereas an ICE will produce max power 24/7 with fuel and cooling without any drop.
And I spoke to a guy at Ferrari, and they said in their newer hybrid model that it should just be run is "qualifying" mode 24/7 to keep the battery at 100% since it uses the ICE to constantly charge it, but I don't know how much power it requires from the engine to do that.

E-motors and batteries only seem to make sense on cars if they're producing an extra 100-200hp or less, and only as a hybrid system with an ICE rather than a pure EV.

You CANNOT make your own EV-tier batteries in a home workshop.

I hate evs but this is not true, you also can't create your own motor oil without some sophisticated industrial process (I've looked into it many years ago)

Because EVs are being forced as a universal solution to a nuanced problem? I've been to Germany and EVs work great there, where the climage is temperate. I live in Minnesota, where it gets ass-blastingly cold there several months a year and hot and humid the rest of the year. I imagine everywhere south of Tennessee is ungodly humid and hot, and everywhere in the US southwest is just really fucking hot. Not exactly ideal battery conditions. And those aren't even extremes. Imagine trying to keep that circuitry alive in bumfuck Siberia, the Aussie wastelands, or some Honduran jungle. Not to mention the risks involved in substantially heavier cars, battery recycling/disposal, and the fact that you are still burning fossil fuels to keep the power plants running.

The technology doesn't work and they're not functional replacements for combustion engines at all. Also, the amount of carbon emissions increase from all the carbon energy they have to produce to supply EVs with power. Then there's the strip mining for rare earth metals required to build batteries, the chemical waste they produce, the unstoppable fire hazards, etc.

You can absolutely create diesel fuels out of damn near anything, some madlads are even making it out of waste plastic.
You're right about motor oil, though - just about anything you can mix up at home (shy of buying the precursors by the barrel) will make you a vastly inferior lubricant, and you'll be fucking your engine up.
Still, buying a barrel of motor oil is infinitely more feasible than setting up a Li-ion battery manufacturing station in your shed.

That's nice, I'm still not changing over to an electric car.
I'm going to keep my petrol car with a manual gear box and I'm not changing because I like it. I like the sound of it, I like how it drives, I like the feel of it, the pleasure it gives me when I drive it.
Best part is? It takes me 30 seconds to put fuel in my cars another 1-2minutes to pay for my petrol and I'm good to go for another 150-200 miles no worries.
You can keep your cobalt slave labour electric vehicles, I'll stick with my good old fashioned oil rig extraction power that harmed no one.

energy density and safety tied to that energy density are the two biggest reasons for why EVs aren't a huge thing. next up is cost. most people can't afford an ev and to install a two phase charger. after that, once widespread adoption happens, we run into power transmission issues. You'd have to, at minimum, double the power transmission capabilities of every line servicing domiciles. They wanted to roll all of this change out in ten years. It took a century to build our petrol service network we have today, through private business investment. Electricity is run through utilities that are heavily regulated by the government. what could go wrong? Now you want all semi trucks and medium duty trucks to be EVs? Each semi is basically a small foundry in terms of power it needs for one 6-8 hour shift. Hydrocarbons are just sequestered solar energy, and we should use it while we have it, because once it is gone or no longer being used, things will become much more expensive. Allow the marketplace to organically shift to a superior product instead of legislating us all into electrical shortages.

Repairing and tuning a gay EV yourself is just never going to be possible for 99.9% of people. And the means to charge the battery is just not easily transportable or accessible.

There needs to be a system where you don't own the battery, you borrow it. BYD solved this with swappable batteries, makes charging quicker too to just swap them at a station. >Why are we supposed to be against EVs again?
EVs are in principle superior, much simpler, more powerful, reliable, amazing - with one huge issue, the battery. Battery is expensive as fuck, gets shitty after a couple years, very limited range, charging takes too long.

People especially hate EVs because the government is mandating and pressuring to buy EVs. Which is retarded. Fix the battery, and economics has everyone getting a EV by choice, not by legoregulatory pressure. Battery needs to be dirt cheap, thousands-mile range, last a long time, and charge in under 2 minutes. All the rebates for EVs and all this bullshit.. all that money should have gone into battery R&D.

Oil is used for more than car fuel. You aware than energy infrastructure is under massive strain? Almost as if investing in electric car infrastructure allows more fuel for power stations which is a more efficient use than distributed said fuel to cars. Less civilian transportation frees up a lot of stuff for industrial applications, makes industry on a whole cheaper. As if Norway isn't invested in other petrochemical use cases as well. As if the world isn't gearing up for war. U r dumb xD

because on the opposite side of the globe is similarly sized country that was absolutely trashed to harvest the disposable batteries from

-their land and water will be polluted by the chemicals used to strip the minerals away from what they mined
-the local populations will be displaced because the gov will take bribes to cut deals with mining companies
-entire mountains will be gutted for the minerals underneath, forever changing the landscape

the worst part about EVs, is that it's causing permanent damage to the land and polluting the land longer than most of us will live all for the sake of a temporary EV craze, that's right, it's all temp because hydrogen is THE sustainable future of automobiles, not electric

you're all watching a retard narcissist single-handedly work to permanently alter the entire planet for the worse, just so he can cash in on it and then waste it on stupid shit like getting migaman elected

That is not true. The amount of work done with 1l of gasoline by a internal combustion engine is larger than the work done with 1l of gasoline by burning it in a power plant, transmitting the electricity to a charging station, charging the battery, and operating an electric motor. Each of the steps causes a loss of efficiency for electric cars.

Primarily due to failure to deliver on the "Being a functional car" part.
Utterly insufficient range, gargantuan weight, infrastructural adaptation requirements, risks (fires, frontloading reliance on electricity nets), vulnerability to temperature, salt and moisture (Good luck Norway kek), limited load capacity interfering heavily with the effective range, high costs, subsidy-reliance andsoforth.

No electric tech got overtaken by the combustion engine around the turn of the century... from the 1800s to the 1900s.

For all intents and purposes it, not combustion engines, is the equivalent of the steam engine.

I like EVs because they're convenient for daily driving, and they have very low noise pollution. I can walk next to a road and have a conversation.
I like combustion engine cars because they're fun.
Enthusiasts over here still own and maintain pure combustion engine cars. There are motorcycle and car meetups every year. My uncle has a supra. So we enjoy both, but EVs and hybrids are taking over daily driving and commuting for most people.

It has also made a VERY noticeable decrease in air pollution during winter time. There's a street nearby that runs between two mountains. During winter time all the car exhausts from multiple roads would gather in this valley and made breathing unpleasant. This is no longer a problem.
So overall I'm happy about EVs, as long as they don't straight up outlaw combustion engines. Because let's be real, if 90% of drivers are driving hybrid or EV, that's good enough. One E30 is not going to ruin the planet.
