>Republicans pretend universal healthcare is this insane radical idea that has never been implemented successfully
>Meanwhile the majority of the planet has it and it provably results in both lower overall costs and better outcomes
>They'll say the US can't afford it meanwhile Israel has it and we give them billions every year
>Even brown shitholes like Brazil have successfully implemented it
Why are they like this?
Shit if we didn't already have firefighters or public defenders they'd say that those are communism too.

What you do t seem to understand is that the US is not saying 'if we had universal healthcare it wouldnt work', the US *HAS* universal healthcare and it doesnt work. Our nation pays more per capita in mandatory income taxes to government accounts for single payer health care than any other nation in the world, and most of the US is denied health care to the point where an entire secondary healthcare industry exists just for these people who cant afford to rely on overfunded government healthcare and choose to pay themselves instead ON TOP OF already paying the government healthcare.

yes it is a huge scam. brought to you by the health industry lobby and the medical school boards. it has nothing to do with single payer, socialism, or whatever. just like law school makes lawyers expensive, med school makes doctors expensive.

I'm not saying the following is true but I heard it on here and I want it confirmed. I heard that it all comes down to medical research. The US funds medical research more than any other country, whereas the other countries simply consume the results of that research, effectively "leeching" off of the US and then pretending their system is more efficient. True/False?

Its complete cope from cohenservatives. Drug companies send more on advertising than R&D, seriously look it up. They charge us more because they know they can get away with it. If it were unprofitable to sell their drugs in Europe and Asia they wouldn't sell them there.

The problem is not that healthcare is privatized, it's not. The problem is the existing government regulations that try but fail to universalize healthcare. Certificates of need, AMA given state power to act as a licensing cartel, mandating coverage for preexisting conditions, tax breaks and preference for employers, medicare and medicaid encouraging providers to shift costs to private patients. It's anything but privatized.

Lots of people, especially older people and people in dual income households, only work so they can get insurance through their (((employer))).
Take away the need for employer based insurance, a giant chunk of the labor force drops out.
Less participants in the labor market = more bargaining power for the workers
Now (((employers))) have to incentivize the remaining labor force with higher wages or other benefits.

The reason doctors are expensive is because of licensing. Cheap doctors arent allowed to exist because they will be arrested for daring to try to practice medicine without earning 500k in government-controlled loan debt first. It is absolutely a government problem.
And before you >muh lobby, Who is it exactly that allows the lobbyists to exist?

Unfortunately no.
While the USA leads in new drug patents the US pharma industry are also notorious patent trolls who will patent anything and everything. Including attempts to patent human biological processes.
Meanwhile European pharma companies have a much better conversion rate of patents to products.

That being said the main issue is that the nations with nationalised healthcare have much better bargaining power relative to the USA whose fractured healthcare system has limited bargaining power and little incentive to bargain.
If your healthcare system was nationalised you'd have absurd bargaining power.

European countries where people are thin and eat healthy foods and exercise can afford universal healthcare.
The American people are too obese, diabetic, mentally ill, and messed up for us to afford to pay for everyone.
It's simply a numbers game of sick and fats.

It's also a matter of laziness. Do you buy bread from the store that is made to last for weeks but also eat unhealthy preservatives, or put in the minimal effort to make your own bread?

The amount of animals that the green grasses of American lawns could feed is staggering. Such wasted potential. Tens of millions of people could have a few chickens and get their own fresh eggs quite easily.
Simply boiling fruit in sugar and water and canning it in a mason jar can create your own fresh pies, jelly, syrup and fruit preserves without any weird chemicals or high-fructose corn syrup.
People can make their own food, fries, burgers, desserts with little effort and there aren't any weird chemicals in it.
An entire population getting sick because noone wanted to prepare their own food is staggeringly crazy when you really think about it.
People don't even need soda, you can make your own lemonade/limeade/orangeade quite easily and it's fresh and delicious.
The dental impact of all this junk food and soda is also staggering in the numbers of affected.

fuck no
Imagine waiting more than 9 months for an "urgent" referral.
And then all that happens at the appointment is the "specialist" says "this is out of my league, here's another referral, fuck off for another year"
You literally still have to pay for private care to be able to get anything
government funded pharmaceuticals are mostly good though, except that you cannot pick your brand, so you do get some retarded shit, like:
>the government changes the approved medicine for epilepsy to some cheap indian trash that's supposedly the same thing
>women can't get their estrogen anymore because it's suddenly government funded and now all the trannies are usurping the supply
>all the epileptics start having seizures
no refunds :)

JD Pants said the US couldn't afford it because of something to do with Europe.
So the idea is, you get universal healthcare and each American gives Europe $2k a year splitting the $4k they've saved. I think that is what the transparently gay Vice President meant anyway, it was hard to follow.

This is a completely normal occurrence in the US. Doctors change your meds around all the time usually because they get kickbacks. Ask anyone with ADHD or schizophrenia how often their meds get switched for no reason.
