anyway, I don't even like Buc-ee's, once you've seen it once you realize it's a big tchochtky filled rip off tourist trap for everything except the gas itself. It's good for that. Just get the gas and go unless you want to walk a mile to get to the bathroom and back or buy extremely overpriced food and junk. True Texas chads know about The Texan, it's a ripoff Buccees that is smaller sized and has better prices

The only thing nice about bucees is that they have clean bathrooms. If you compare it to other gas stations you stop at on a road trip it's very very clean in comparison.

Otherwise I don't really understand why people give a shit about this place, when I'm driving and need a snack or some food I just want to get in and out and keep driving. These places are like a shittier wal mart with less stuff in them and way too many people milling about.

it's not dead, it's more populated and influential than it's been in a long time. But it lost itself to get there, slavishly caring about "muh economy" at the expense of everything else. As recently as the 1980's it still had a very southern culture and was kind of sleepy.

The South is truly a backwater compared to the North and West. The only way to get anywhere are the roads. There are no train tracks and no natural waterways. There are literally no average weight people. Everyone is fat. Lots of motorized scooters blocking your path in crowded places. The amount of elderly is staggering. Old people from the North move South to exploit cheaper taxes and live in warm weather. Those born in the south earn very little money compared to their northern and western counterparts. Laws are very limiting. One often has to drive multiple counties over just to purchase some beer. Weed is heavily criminalized throughout the South. Their education is underfunded so Southern citizens cannot compete as well with citizens from the North and West for good jobs.
