The median woman in the West is still pumping out 2-3 kids like many decades ago, but there are much more childless women. I think the biggest reason is that many are oblivious, that the window of fertility is very small for women. Education and career robs them of their most fertile years. Family creation should come before career and higher education, that's the only solution.
