Press f to pay your respects, RIP FORD MOTOR COMPANY
Ford is closing plants! Jim Farley, Ford’s CEO, mentioned the company has been forced to temporarily close several plants due to issues with the supply chain. This situation, primarily related to trade tensions between China and the United States, and the lack of key minerals for vehicle manufacturing, highlights the company’s vulnerability in theautomotive industry to global factors.

Chink chip shortages were a "supply chain" issue for almost every single manufacturer. The parts are significantly more complex to manufacture, and require materials from around the world, including rare earths. Screens are also distracting as fuck and cause eye strain when you drive in the dark for long periods of time.

Please explain how a simple lever or knob is somehow more difficult to manufacture than LCD screens and computers. I'd love to hear this shit. The additional wire harnesses alone would drive up costs.

It takes much more rare materials and expensive labor to take that little bit of material and make computer circuits and shit than just letting a robot put a metal gear in place. Idiot. And the fact is, you still need like 90% of the big metal gears and pieces anyway, you're just adding electronics that is prone to failure and makes a car useless when there's nothing physically wrong with it.

If you can sell it. They've made cars so overly complicated that hardly anyone outside of a dealership can even work on them. I've seen posts of transmissions costing upwards of 15k. You ever try to chase an electrical gremlin down on a pre 2010s vehicle? Its a fucking nightmare, imagine when something happens to one of these new rolling pieces of shit. You'll have to have a PHD in electrical engineering to change the headlights. Go to a local junkyard and see how many nice cars are there, some absolutely flawless on the exterior, but something happened to them that was prohibitively expensive to fix and it was a better financial decision to literally sell it for parts than it was to fix it.

No problem goy, here is the machine you'll need to program it with, 350k please. Your yearly subscription for updates is another 30k a year, but the first year is included in the initial purchase.

America is a capitalist country. The states raison d'être is to serve the interests of capital (clue is in the name).
American companies fulfill their sacred and legal duty to shareholders by making line go up.

All you losers do is impotently whine about it, as if you didn't have every opportunity to buy shares. You could have taken the proceeds and used it to move to a communist country where you'd fit in.

It was brought up on Fox News' Steve Wilco show awhile back. China and America are not overly rich in minerals but China unlike America built up its essential minerals processing capacity so much so that America has to send the copper we mine here over to China for processing which they send back and that's not even all the copper we need. Basically China is the top processor for essential minerals in the world which mostly come from Latin America and other parts of Asia.

Who gives a fuck about MPG? They could get 4mpg highway or city and over the course of a decade you'd still save a ton of money no matter how much you drive compared to running a modern f150. The cam phaser bullshit they all have alone probably washes out any savings you'd gain from the economy improvements of the ecoboost platform.
