Now that i have your attention, here is why btw, Pokrovsk will fall before the end of the year and it's a relatively smooth drive over flat terrain into the rest of Ukraine from there

So if provotsk falls, that means there is no where left for Ukraine to entrench themselves, and basically all of Donetsk will be captured?
Or something else?

dnipropetrovsk and pretty much everything west of pokrovsk is a massive unforested flatland, the only real physical barrier left for ukraine is the dnieper

It will probably force Ukraine to abandon the entirety of Donetsk and even allow the russians to finally use that tank stockpile they've been sitting on to push quickly over the plains towards Dnipro and beyond.
basically a Germany in 1918 scenario.

it means nothing ever happens
there were identical articles and theories about bakhmut and how its fall would change everything (nothing happened)
the war will continue to be a slow, excruciating grind

Oh shit
So the reason it's been so slow until now is because of all the Ukrainian fortifications? I thought it was because drone warfare made it impossible to march forward and mobilize heavy vehicles

landmines all over the place, tanks and stuff don't really come out any more because if they do it's either the landmines that get them or the drones.

yeah apparently the Ukranians built three major defensive lines in the Donetsk since 2014, Pokrovsk is in the last major defensive line.
Drones are very dangerous but you need defensive positions to actually be able to deploy them properly, it's very difficult if you keep getting chased by tanks, hence why the opening of the war was much much more mobile and fluid.

I just saw a video where the Ukrainian military is basically packing trucks and IFVs full of cannon fodder, all on their way to Pokrovsk. Syrskyi's meat waves will make it difficult and I'm sure it will fall eventually
