I'm at war with ants right now. I had a bad ant problem in my lawn. I sprayed poison all over my property so they came into my house to escape and they're living in my attic. There is a colony I noticed on my local walk recently. I bought a sleeve of Oreos and I have been feeding them half an Oreo every night for the past week. The colony has expanded significantly and now they’ve added a second entrance. I think I’m going to have to up it to a full Oreo now, half at each entrance.

They know an ant is lazy because when they repeatedly interact with another ant and don't receive a stimulus past a certain threshold in return then they associate it with that ant's chemical signature. Hopefully if he winds up trying plan D, he plans ahead by putting a couple fire extinguishers in the work area ahead of time, and maybe even have a long water hose prepped just in case. I’ve gone the “death by fire” route by mixing transmission fluid and seafoam/gasoline, trying to eradicate the fire ants in our yard. It worked pretty well, though that mixture was quite difficult to put out. I even soaked the dry as fuck grass around the area to be treated as a precautionary measure, but it wasn’t all that effective.
