As someone who wanted to commit a mass shooting, violent video games actually helped me scratch the itch and cope long enough to get better and stop having such thoughts. Hatred in particular was fucking excellent and I remember playing it every time I got the bad thoughts. So I honestly think that violent video games are good if you want to reduce real life violence.
