So now that most routers are 5G, and the channel assignment spectrum is pretty wide within that, allowing for selecting frequencies and Tx power level that will not penetrate typical walls, but instead will be reflected back onto the receiver. This was already possible with the old 2.4GHz routers, but at a lower resolution. If Xfinity is offering multi room protection with just one router, it’s likely to be using a combination of both lower and higher band 2.4/5GHz channels. There’s a “scan” function available on my Fios router that determines ideal placement within the home.
