They're never going to try to rise out of NPCdom because they will never admit to being NPCs. Seems like a perfect plan. I have some ideas and desires that I think are causing me suffering, and yet I can't get rid of them, I'm often wondering if these ideas and desires are implanted. But most people identify very strongly with everything they believe in, desire etc, they can't question it because for some reason it implies to them an attack on their very essence, and the notion of questioning it sends them into fight or flight mode. What if people are NPCs, ie programmed, and they are also programmed to fight to protect the walls of their prison? What if most of us are?
