The average Briton was and is outraged by the Pakistani rape gangs, but our political class hates us so much that they covered it up for a decade, and it's taken another decade to open a national inquiry into it. Even then they'll half-ass it and sweep it under the rug.
It is hard to describe the level of contempt our political class has for the common man. My theory is that this goes back to the aristocracy being Normans and the commoners being Anglo-Saxons. The Normans hated us and sought to dominate us. No other country in Europe has seems to have that - as in, an aristocracy & upper/political class that is ethnically distinct from the common man.
