So basically all the city dwellers in Poland, the only people who wanted and could get educated and do some real business, were of foreign origin - mostly Jewish, German, but also Italian, Armenian and many other ethnicities. Poles started mass-migrating to cities only after WW2 but as the working class obviously, while the elites were and still are to a large degree composed of people of foreign origin. We are used to it to this level so it isn't even a topic for discussion, it is just "normal", that if you see a professor or a big business owner on the screen, he will have a non-Polish surname or look somehow not-typically-Polish. The same is about a large part of our political class, people with non-Polish origin are overrepresented.
I'm not saying it's good or bad, that's how it is. This country is very similar to let's say Malaysia in this regard.
