Based, check out the parkour and martial arts threads on >>>/xs/ if you haven't already (they really like judo). It's worth at least dabbling in some of the more legitimate weapon arts if you're thinking about self-defense rather than just fitness because MMA is a different problem to solve than MMA but the other guy just pulled a knife. You might already be getting this as part of your tkd/judo curriculum but some places are super sport-focused and don't get into the broader aspects of the arts.

yeah we do plenty of disarming techniques at my martial arts school, and police cqc
my master has made his own variation of taekwondo to include more useful movements for real self defense situations
also do some knife fighting and korean sword for fun every few weeks

If you're heavier, then you'll be worse at running, climbing and any sport requiring agility and mobility, but you'll be better at lifting and most fighting sports (western fighting sports mostly)

100% agree, you need both
more specifically, you need to increase your vo2max, lactate threshold, fast-twitch and slow-twitch muscle fibers and flexibility
some of which you can only improve with dynamic sports like running, cycling or swimming
equally as important is to have functional muscle by training your brain-muscle connection, ideally with some combat sports (or dancing if you're into that)

I have in fact began to work out again doing around 170 push ups a night and barbell lifting of 40 pounds on each arm for 30 reps.
Not tonight though I cleaned out my storm gutters today and it's a two story house, the ladder was heavy and all the climbing up and down and I'm pretty tired today.

i started fasting and doing light exercise daily about 2 months ago and i think i've lost about 25-30 lbs, maybe more (i don't own a scale)

i would recommend it to anyone. i just eat one meal a day and do 1 or 2 longer fasts (48 or 72 hrs) every week, and try to walk 10k steps a day (usually more like 5-8k). i think by the end of the summer i'll be closer to a healthy weight and i'll start getting into lifting

Since I started to exercise regularly, I feel no need to fast, but I do it naturally anyway, start eating at around 10 am and stop at 6 pm, so a 16:8
