The farmers are breaking the law too in this scenario by the way, even if it's a law that's never enforced:
>Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA).

Farm owners*

The question then becomes, why does ICE need a budget bigger than that of the Marine Corps if Mass Deportations are effectively cancelled by mass amnesty?

Enforcing that and punishing the owners would bring about actual change.
But this is the literal opposite

Yep
This not only crushes farm labor wages but also kills automation companies because it's very hard to sell a farm robot to a farmer who has an infinite supply of very cheap labor.

Or basically this is what the civil war was about. Industrialization versus slave labor.

I'm convinced that $160 billion for ICE is just another pork contract where the money will disappear.

You do realize that this is not true right?
The cotten gin was literally phasing out the need for slave labor, and you dont have to fucking pay a machine or feed it. Slavory in regards to field workers was on the way out the door when the civil war started.

The press is focusing on "Farmers" but he is also including hotel and leisure resort owners IE himself. The stupid media still hasn't posed the question: Does Donald Trump have illegals working at his hotels and resorts?

This, fucking madness, every owner they arrest and jail takes out multiple illegals, several high profile jailings should have a massive impact on US citizens breaking the law by hiring illegals. Unfortunately Trump is all show as per usual.

Yes it is true. There are companies right now that sell machines that automatically pick fruits, vegetables, and even berries, even strawberries. But they are expensive, and it's an upfront investment. Cheaper in the short term for farmers to keep using manual labor since it's very cheap.

>There are companies right now that sell machines that automatically pick fruits, vegetables, and even berries, even strawberries. But they are expensive,
Yeah an an innovation to make them cheaper is what drives them to get better.
Look at AI, Many people in the tech world are the equivalent of Tech Slaves doing simple tasks, AI cost a LOT of money, but guess what, its cheaper to run an AI to do all that simple labor then it is to pay the slaves.

Slave labor might be cheap, but its not automation cheap.
When we say slave labor i dont mean literal slaves i mean low skill wagie positions. If we are talking slave slave, like work them until they die slave then yeah, nothing is cheaper then a disregard for human life.
This was also true during slavery in the US when one of the slavers famously commented how its cheaper just to work a slave to death and buy a new one rather then bother with feeding and housing them.

You're not getting it. Automation tech prices today have to compete with illegal alien wages. Even "legal" migrant farm labor wages are way too low, simply because third worlders are always happy to make $10/hr in dangerous shit conditions when the alternative is $5/day at home.
The reason US citizens "don't want to do those jobs" is because they pay less than survival wages, and farmers probably wouldn't even hire them for the same wages as the illegals because the US citizens will demand the farmer follow labor and safety laws.

Because it's one of the job sectors that's been so thoroughly flooded with cheap foreign workers for so long that all of the businesses operating in that sector have completely adjusted to the cheap labor, as if it's the norm, such that if the foreign workers were deported most of those businesses wouldn't be able to operate properly without lots of restructuring (and cuts to CEO pay).
It's essentially a lot of "woe is me" coming from really rich people who are screwing everyone else over and got used to it, employing slave labor while screwing over the native population, and they kvetch at the mere hint of taking away their slaves.

The point is that if you mass deport the slave labor all in one block, you get chaos, and that chaos will be used by the slave owners to justify that they must stay. Leftists already support corporations in full on keeping the slave so they are useless for now. But all the immigrants have to go, but must find the optimal way.

The matter of amnesty is very sketchy because immigrants working there had protections that Trump recently removed therefore, he is doing the opposite of what people quote.
My guess is:
1: that they are prepping the people to the idea, to see how people reach
2: in case of inevitable sector collapse, then they are going to go with amnesty, but want the workers to get replaced gradually

It wouldn't cause chaos though, it would raise consumer prices a lot for a while, and people would have to cut back on tomatoes and strawberries for a while.
We genuinely need a civil war at this point. So many corrupt people need to be executed.
