The economy in the 1930s was shit, he had to print a secondary currency to hide inflation, extort workers and give handouts to his rich friends.
Still the economy was such a wreck that he had to plunder to neighbouring countries to avoid collapse.

And that wasn’t a forgone conclusion by any means, most European, and in fact German, generals believed France was more likely to emerge victorious as they did in 1918. The Germans started rearming en masse in 1933, the allies from 1936 and onwards. Early in the war the allies has to catch up, when they did the war turned quickly.

If you compare the eastern front lines of ww1 and ww2 you see the difference. And going from trench in ww1 to open warfare in ww2 required more personel and armaments, the Germans never had the capacity to produce more than the Soviet Union, no less the allies as a whole.

Fun fact, military deaths in combat Germany vs Soviet Union is pretty much 1:1, if you go deaths outside of combat you have something like 1:10 in favour of Germany.
