Something like a quarter of the population are on a disability benefit, and even more are claiming some sort of benefit in general. The government spends hundreds and hundreds of billions a year handing out free money to people. They're also spending many more hundreds of billions a year giving everyone free healthcare.
You cannot have this much handouts, especially not with open borders. That is just a fact everyone has known forever.
As a result of these handouts, the government is having to do everything it can to keep the budget balanced. Which means more taxes, which has a knock on effect of driving away rich people and large businesses. Which means less tax revenue.
What is happening in the UK was always going to happen, Brexit had nothing to do with it. It is the logical conclusion of Tony Blair getting into power and the insane constitutional changes he made to the country (the sort of radical changes we've not seen in over 1000 years).
