It all depends on the family and the individual. I have seen fat fatty amish (almost always older family patriarchs), but they are exceedingly rare. The anon who said they carry a lot of goyslop in their stores are correct but that doesn't necessarily mean they all eat it themselves, they're only selling it. They sell goyslop alongside organic produce, raw milk, kombucha, etc. so they have good stuff too. Every single amish family around here has an organic no-till garden at least like a quarter of an acre big, full of onions, broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, you name it. They make their own sauerkraut and other fermented foods, have chickens for their eggs, etc. We are kinda close with the amish owners of our local dairy, and the husband is a very intelligent, kind, and mild-mannered man. His wife is the same. They have beautiful healthy kids who are always smiling and polite, helping out with chores on the farm. Not to romanticize these people, obviously there are problems and they have secret abuse hidden in some households, but the same is true with our own people and I have the feeling that dysfunction is more prevalent among us than them.

The Amish are pretending its the 1800s whilst still fully dependent on modern industry. Their shunning of modern technology such as electric lighting and using oil lamps instead is just retarded. Its doing the same job but less well. Living an anachronistic lifestyle is not required to live a traditional life, traditional life should reject modern concepts, not modern forms of traditional concepts. They should use electric lighting and other technologies.
