meningococcus is a human specific bacteria not found outside human body and it cant infect animals (except chimpanzees and gorillaz)

some people carry a different straing of meningococcus than some others and a wrong strain inside a person sometimes causes brain inflammation which is lethal in 10% of the cases when it occurs, the bacteria spreads only in prolonged close contact of people who are not from same families but are spending a lot of time together
