Let’s review history. The Soviets invaded the eastern Slavic countries starting in 1910s. By the 1920s they were on a murdering spree, and by the 1930s they had imbedded themselves like true parasites locally taking over local government.

Everyone had to contribute their land to the collective farming initiatives. You gave up everything you had. Migrant workers lived in your house. Didn’t matter how long your family lived there, how much land you had, whether your farm was successful. These fucks showed up and forced you to sign over your land or they’d murder your whole family, children first, and you last. This is all historical fact.

This process and the complete and utter failure of collectivization of farms starved nearly everyone to goddamn death. Shortly after this, WWII started, and then Hitler made a play for the grain in Belarus/Ukraine.

The Nazis came through and slaughtered the Soviets, pushing them not just to their border but all the way through to their largest cities which were then sieged and being starved out. The US saved their entire ass. Let’s not play games over that fact.

The Nazis liberated the eastern slavic countries, including Ukraine, and set up provisional governments. The survivors got their land back and their fishing ships back, and started to rebuild. Two years later the Nazis would betray them and flee.

My point here is that when Ukrainians had to go into the attic to get Grandad’s ass-kicking gear to fight the fucking Soviets coming back again, well, it wasn’t covered with American flags was it.
