His good points were that he gave the appearance of someone keen to restore Germany to the point of obsession, and weathered war and destitution to become an impressive orator.

But any kind of balanced and varied study of Hitler and Nazism reveals many mistakes, many hypocrisies, proven atrocities, and above all - gangsterism.

I don't know if he was as great or as loved as the people here say he was. I'd say he ruled by and through fear, and made terrible strategic mistakes and tolerated or encouraged behaviours within the Party that damaged Germany and patriotic conservatism forever.

Even if his health wasn't as prevlaent an issue as it was becoming, he would have had to been sidelined and kept for symbolic purposes for Germany to ever win the war.

When you hate something, you give as much if not more power to it than when you love it. The more people hate Hitler, the bigger his presence becomes in their minds, which when broken becomes feverish love.
