Most living holocaust survivors were children, 95%+ and most of them would have no memory of it. To qualify for being a holocaust survivor you didn't even have to be in a camp, you just had to have fled Germany, additionally status for a holocaust survivor was through 1946, so you could have been considered a survivor a year after the war ended.
