My theory is that we are still developing and discovering too many new construction materials and processes which is why we can't get to the point of developing style and ornateness in all of it.

My city's cathedral, St. Joseph's of Columbus Ohio. Kind of an ugly building on the outside tbqh but the inside is gorgeous. Many such cases in the USA in my experience. For all buildings, not just churches.

How your classic churches holding up there? I read so much much online about the German Catholic churches (classic ones, NOT the ones looking like Ikea crap) that is heat breaking...chicken dance masses, churches being abandoned and then used for raves, churches turning into restraunts, churches with high ceilings becoming rock climbing places, etc. It's so sad.
