>>509682355 (OP)Jews back then have almost no relation to ones today, the Pharisees were the most subservient to Rome. Back then Jews could name Messiahs which they did frequently, they could also proselytize. Also they were almost entirely illiterate and were doing oral transmissions of their beliefs. Not even radical Muslims were that bad, they would name like 5 Messiahs at the same time, war against themselves, refuse to pay taxes, refuse to use money, and took slaves as they pleased. They did do circumcision to mark slaves, if someone bore the mark they considered them part of the tribe. Rabbinic Judaism happened after Christianity, the Jews that didn't want to do labor were forced into service of nobility and left to their communities. They were not allowed to work productive jobs so that they would be dependent on the labor or others and they were used as financial placeholders when a noble wanted to remove annoying peasant populations, it's really convenient to have a docile rootless cosmopolitan class that you can supplant anywhere when going through regime change. Rabbinic Jews are similar to the Amish, except they're not allowed to work.
