i always took superman and DC comix in general as mostly cold war-era military industrial myth-making propaganda (america, like superman, stands up for What's Right!) as well as a way of dealing with nuclear anxiety and giving comic book reading nerds a way to self-insert and overlay the myths onto their own lives

Superman is my favorite cape, yet I think he just needs to go away now. Superman/Clark Kent are too "pure" for this current world. He's a relic of a bygone era. People can't write him, people can't understand what made him so special. Hope is dead and everything is political n cynical. People can't relate of even look up to him anymore. No, they look to someone like Homelander or The Sentry because those are more "realistic" of someone on Superman's power level. Superboy Prime was and is still right. He just did not understand the problem was the culture we were building nor how bad things would get.
