Yeah I do because a Republic is basically the monarchy. Republics have a high turnover rate. IE: They will disown you and throw you out on your ass. Their track record for this is really bad. Democracy is suppose to be the balance to that.

For republics of size in the 1700s you have basically the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and Switzerland. A republic and a monarchy are diametrically opposite. A republic being defined by not having a monarchy or more generally no legal mandate of inheritance of public office by birth.
Every other aspect of the government is undefined by being either monarchy or republic.
Having a senate or house of lords isn't implied by either definitionally.

An absolute dictatorship ruled by a military junta is a republic. If you have a King/Queen you are a monarchy even if the royal family has no lands, no power, and works a 9-5 job.

You're nitpicking. A Republic is an evolution of a monarchy. Something that is suppose to work better but share a lot of the same ideas. Rome evolved from a monarchy to a republic.
