>>509712419the main point is that not tipping would increase prices by a higher ammount than just tipping.
At least in my country the salary taxes are almost 50%.
So say you get paid 1000 dollars per month, the business pays 2000 in total.
The employee makes 1000 in wages and 1000 from tips.
If everyone would stop tipping, the business would have to pay 2000 outright, but that would also mean an extra 2000 in taxes. So the cost per employee goes from 2k to 4k.
And guess what happens when you double the costs to a business? It gets passed on to the consumer. There's also raw materials cost, rent, other taxes that stay the same, so its not a complete doubling of food prices but it'd still go up WAY higher than just tipping 10-20% like a decent human being.
Luckily most people IRL tip enough to cover the scumbag rat bastards who are stingy, and people are smart enough to understand its in their best interest and its actually a way for the end consumer to dodge some taxes (which is why people tip couriers, waiters, barbers, etc).
But to my surprise people online are too retarded to understand this, both on reddit and on here.
