My bet would be that the higher up probably realized a while ago that they went too fast and too hard in attaining their ultimate goal so they decided to rerun the ww2 script in order to give themselves another few decades of time. Throwing a bone to the anger worlwide in order to make them think they won so they can stabilize and keep doing what they are doing.
There's another part of me that think that they went too deep, the psyops were too effective which resulted in them destroying the ability of their progeny to plot and scheme the way their fathers and grandfathers used to be able to.
