Why would elitist types be building doomsday bunkers if they weren’t aware of something? Word gets around about it and commoners start preparing as well.

Look at Hollywood movie titles since the 2000s and notice the trend of ‘end of world’ films. The Y2K glitch and the Mayan Calendar prophecy were also used to create awareness (and fear) about near term apocalyptic events popping off.

Either A) something big will happen or B) there is a coordinated attempt to pretend something big will happen.
