Both things can be true.

Pricing for everyday living items has drastically risen especially in the last 5 years.

The purchasing power of the dollar due to inflation has been decimated by like 90%+ since 1971. Exact estimates are unclear but its around there.

Its mostly intention and evil.

That being said there are some opportunities that exist in our era such as crypto and the ability to learn in depth about virtually anything. Ridiculous amounts of step by step information to educate yourself about every topic or skill imaginable.

There is also AI but I have yet to figure out a truly novel monetization method that provides tons of value.
