I don't think I was born gay, babies don't have an innate sexuality. Gayness rises during puberty and people's sexual awakening. Around that time I had a lot of strict and mean women in my life and I guess I learned to associate females with unpleasant experiences and males with pleasant ones. It works in the same way someone might develop a kink through reinforced learning. It's not something you can control for unless you put every kid through some kind of 24/7 surveilance prison-like system where every experience is manually controlled, until they're 20, even then i doubt it would work.
