Great film.

"The Beach". It shows how a seemingly collectivist utopian society is really authoritarian and violent underneath it all. It kind of dispels socialism by showing its logical conclusions for "the greater good" of the community.

I also obsessively watched Donnie Darko, Big Lebowski, and A Clockwork Orange.

I don't know how they do it but I know its very effective. That's why I still haven't read The Brothers K, because its a "Very hypnotic read" and after trying the first few pages I had to agree. Woke up memories from when I was 3. Weird stuff, but it is what it is.
