Your best bet would be to contact Danish embassy, visit websites of Danish ministries of foreign affairs, interior and maybe judiciary or administration or whatever they may call it. If you really intend on moving to Denmark, I doubt doing some research will be a problem for you.

I've been passively doing research, but nobody of an official capacity will be fully honest about potential hardships as that would discourage most. Have you thought about visiting as a tourist? Do you have enough free time and money to make a week or more long trip? Before that, it might be a good idea to explore areas you find interesting bia google street view, and perhaps find some kind of English speaking expat organization or association in Denmark. And I can definitely tell you that learning a language will get you a long, long way. If you're white, especially lighter or blonde looking and learn the language (like st least b2 level), you will assimilate very well, especially since you're sn American and people will have less real negative prejudices against you (except harmless "hahaha stupid gun lover's" and "no healthcare").

It's the best West European nation but it suffers from all the typical issues you can imagine, only difference is that we're 10-15 years behind others. We're still fucked, without a clear solution, just at a slower rate.
Why are we less screwed? Long story short we don't suffer the same WW2 guilt as Germany, we had some very important politicians unlike Sweden and both those countries were more attractive to migrate to than us.

But nowadays we're slipping into the same globohomo issues, aging population, high taxes, high prices on everything. The solution from our politicians? Import more 3rd world workers, fuck sake.
