Ironic considering how hard doing decent qual analysis actually is.
I can say from experience that part of that is that social sciences isn't just treated as the 'soft' side, but among academics is considered something you can just pick up without a degree, experience or any qualifications.

My spouse and I are both currently cadre at one of the service academies and all the civilian staff put this nonsense in their email signatures. Until this year uniformed staff were encouraged to as well.
