this seems like a sane thread, so let me add this - from reading the press release, it seems that they are admitting that they have no evidence of a list or blackmail activities, which is not quite the same thing as saying it never happened. I know there are rumors that "other people" got in and took information before the FBI got there.
However, one thing is clear, and that is that Patel, Bongino, et al should never have encouraged so much speculation about it during the campaign and the early days of the administration, so they deserve the roasting they are getting.
Personally, I still consider it plausible that he had those kind of materials. Many options for why they aren't in the official FBI evidence collection.
