It wasn't until the 4th and 5th centuries, after Nicea, that Trinitarianism became the most prevalent viewpoint. It took centuries to formulate the Trinity piecemeal, and even then, it was a minority-held doctrine (most estimates put it around 10-20% of the early church)

TLDR; non-Trinitarian beliefs were the standard doctrines practiced by the majority of Christians for the first 400 years of Christianity
