The real accelerationists are in elite positions in Silicon Valley. Peter Thiel, Marc Andreesen, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos. Those guys are all accelerationists in the sense that you're talking about. I'm not just making it up either - they all call themselves accelerationists and they all know about Nick Land. Not a lot of other people subscribe to it because they understand that it benefits elites first and foremost and that it will lead to manmade horrors beyond our comprehension. Well, they consider themselves accelerationists, because they just want to accelerate the development of technology at all costs. You're right, they don't really care about benefiting the wider human race, but is that really a requirement for being an accelerationist? Ther conception of "the human race" pretty much includes only themselves and their elite friends, and it excludes everybody else. But we all kind of do that on some level. Like, do you care if a billion niggers in Africa get to experience the singularity? Probably not. You want it for yourself and people who are like you. These rich fuckers are no different; they're simply in a better position to realistically achieve it before anybody else does.

Many technologies could've existed but they don't because they weren't considered profitable. That is the key difference. They develop technology because it pays (as it is intrinsically good and valuable) but as soon as it doesn't pay, they're not on board with the vision of the future anymore. Yeah that's a good point and almost certainly true. None of these guys would support the development of technology that detracted from their own power and elite status. They've adopted the accelerationist label because they believe that technological development will further cement the wealth and power disparity that they have over other people. They call themselves accelerationists, but what they really want is just more AI-powered surveillance, kill drones, more of that dystopian BS. They would be against any tech that made everybody equal.

Electrical engineer here, im having a pretty good time, we will inherit the earth without a doubt at this point, the AI can write its own code but it still needs us to feed it hardware.
